The PlaceCam 3 IP-based videoconferencing software combines the best of P2P (Peer-To-Peer) technology and client-server systems. An intermediate and costly server (MCU) is not required, since PlaceCam 3 makes use of centralized Internet servers to distribute the data. PlaceCam 3 can easily integrate room videoconferencing systems from major manufacturers such as Polycom, Tandberg, LifeSize, and Sony. All that is needed is a SIP connection to these systems. This gives you enormous flexibility when contacting external business partners and inviting them to a video conference.

Outlook plug-in for scheduling videoconferences in Outlook

To make scheduling video conferences as painless as possible, an Outlook plug-in for PlaceCam 3 is provided. Thus you can use the Outlook calendar functions to plan your video conferences: The invited participants will receive a reminder of the conference date and can join the conference.

How does PlaceCam 3 work?

PlaceCam 3 uses port 80 to log in to our database. Once a connection is made to one or more participants, UDP port 3443 is used to send and receive audio and video signals. The audio and video signals are transferred over our USL (User Session Locator) service on the Internet. It can also be installed at a later time in your office. Moderator or just a participant?

With PlaceCam 3 you can decide who will be the moderator of a conference and who will be only a participant. Various functions are available depending on the participant’s status:
